In a few days, October will arrive, and it just means another, or lots of opportunity to be featured in this blog, as "Monthly Spotlight" for the next October, and following months

Back in July 2010 I held my first giveaway to gather a sweet prize when I had less than 60 subscribers, so I wonder what can be done with 650+ subscribers?

I am not going to tell you much more for now but if you want to sponsor you will get many links back to your website from this website and from other blogs posting about the monthly contest – plus a warm giddy feeling that you are donating.

Excited? I am

And four boyish prints from "Over The fence".

Children at Play by Sarah Jane for Michael Miler

What could I say ? They are all my precious collections now. When I ordered them, there are many projects that popped in my head. But seeing them in reality, they are too pretty to be sewn

Meadow, from Children at Play by Sarah Jane

I'm planning to make a boy pajama using this aqua "making paper hats" print :

Making Paper Hats

I know I'm repeating this. I really want to sew them into few things, but it's hard to decide which one that will be sacrificed first, gee... There are many inspirations up there at Children at Play's Flickr Pool to look at

Oh, did I forget to mention that Elsie Marley has decided to do another session of Kids Clothes Week Challenge (KCWC) this fall ? Maybe I will use the fabrics to sew some cute children clothes like what I did in KCWC last spring -Day 1, Day 3&4, Day 5-7

KCWC Fall 2011

There have been more than a hundred of people who signed up for KCWC Fall 2011. If you want to join the fun, go there and leave a comment, don't forget to browse and join Elsie Marley's flickr pool to post your finished projects

Napkitten Pattern's Giveaway Winners

Napkitten Winner's Pattern Favorite

Sorry for this postponed announcement. So here we go !
the winners are :

Huisei, with her first sewing memories :
I started to sew lat year, around March. I was looking for a new job that time and I found a sewing blog that shared a tutorial on how to sew a tote. I was so 'moved' with the step to step instruction and I make one reversible tote for the first time. From that time onwards, I grew my interest on sewing and continue until now...

Edhini Senastri

Patty C
My first sewing experinece was making a bunny out of muslin - It turned out pretty cute - I put a burgundy dress on her with some ribbons - I hadn't thought about that in years - ;)

Congratulations, girls. I will send my confirmation emails tonight

Cape Ann, from Oliver+S

Cape Ann, the most anticipated new fabric line from Oliver+S, which will be launched at October 2011 (few weeks left), takes its inspiration from the work of Virginia Lee Burton, founder of the Folly Cove Design Collective and illustrator of such classic children's books as Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel and This Little House.

Cape Ann features hand-drawn illustrations which are simultaneously nostalgic and contemporary and supporting geometric prints inspired by nature. The line includes 24 patterns in quilting cotton and another 24 in a wonderful brushed cotton which has the loft, warmth, and softness of flannel.

The toile print (“Indian Summer”) features Liesl's illustrations of children at play in nature. “Virginia’s Closet” takes ideas for children’s clothing directly from her sketchbooks. The supporting prints include elements from nature (“Ginko Toss,” “Chrysanthemum Swirl,” and “Starburst Mums”) as well as vintage-inspired prints and patterns (“Folly Cove Dots” and “Ticking stripe”). The collection is simultaneously nostalgic and contemporary

The Virginia's Closet's paperdoll print was super darling. Well, at least we know where she got her inspirations from. Her own Oliver+S sewing patterns !

Liesl had some adorable sample garments made up in her booth

And the finished garments made by Oliver+S' s fall/winter new sewing patterns, oh, I can't resist them

You can see the whole collection right here (pdf link)

I will surely buy some of this collections. Just fulfilling my greed of fabrics, maybe ? But, don't you think that it will be better if it includes more boyish prints ? My boy certainly will be jealous if he saw her sister wore cute prints like that :D

Napkitten Patterns Giveaway (CLOSED)

27 Pockets Wallets Sewing Pattern // Accordion Wallet

Another giveaway for you today !
This time is from Napkitten Pattern. I bought the 27 pockets wallet PDF pattern from Napkitten last year and was very surprised by athe pages of the pattern's instructions. It helped me a lot as a novice wallet maker. The wallet was given to someone as a gift, and sadly I had no photo of it, so I can't show you how cute the result was.

Swift Summer Bag // Three Pocketed Quilted Handbag

If you want to know more about Napkitten Pattern, here is what Shannon, the brain behind Napkitten, writes about herself :

When I was 5 years old, I started to make crafts and loved it so much. In my whole family, I had only one fan, my grandma. At that time, I could only make some simple origami, such as bird, boat, pants… Every time when I finished, I would show them to my granny. No matter how ugly they were, my granny always said: ”Wow, how beautiful!!! My granddaughter is the smartest girl.” There was no internet, no blog, no crafts forum then, so my granny was my only audience. Her smile was my only encouragement.

Little by little, I started to learn sewing, crocheting and knitting. I was so glad I could spend boring and hot summer holiday in crafting. At my 12, I became able to crochet hat and sock. At my 14, I became able to sew pants.

Afterwards, I had less and less spare time to make crafts. I had to spend all my time and energy in school and universities to get degrees. Moreover, life is not always happy and beautiful, sometimes full of stress, sometimes full of tears, sometimes full of pains.

Ten years ago, my dear granny left me forever. I cannot stop missing her even now. How sad…

Now everything has been settled down. The happiest thing in my life is that I have such a nice husband to support, understand, and love me. So I regain my peaceful life to wakeup my faraway and happiest memory from my deepest heart. I start to make crafts again. Everyday, I enjoy the designing and creating. It seems I returned to my sunny childhood and I saw my granny’s encouraging smile again.
